'Little Streets', Larger Space

As a plan to make Melbourne the premier bicycle city of Australia, Lord Mayor Sally Capp has released a 10-year draft transport strategy. The plan is to expand the six kilometres of protected bike lanes to more than 50 kilometres by the year 2030; creating more space for pedestrians and cyclists in the CBD. The council will remove some of the city’s off-street parking, clearing the equivalent of 30 MCGs or 20 Burke St Malls of space. Our esteemed ‘Little Streets’ of Melbourne’s CBD (Little Collins, Little Burke, Little Lonsdale, Little La   ...read more

SecureCloak - Preventing tomorrows thefts, today

In 2017 Victoria was named Australia’s car theft capital with over 15,000 cars stolen, on average more than 40 per day. This accounted for almost 30% of Australia’s car thefts that year. Burglars are becoming bolder and more driven to succeed in their criminal activities. Even though these events aren’t as frequent as they used to be, they still tend be a part of everyday life. Imagine you are the owner of the Mercedes Benz dealership in Toorak. In the showroom you have several cars on display with a combined value of hu  ...read more

SecureCloak - Protecting Your Assets

Identity theft is a growing issue in today’s society. There appear to be new scams each day attempting to steal your personal information. This is commonly seen through bank theft. Between April and July in 2017, three ATM’s in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs were the scene of a customer fraud crime where two men attempted to scam ATM customers over a three month timeline. The shops affected by the fraud were Dingley Discounts in Dingley Village, Just For Men in Forest Hill and a NAB bank on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn. In each of the three ATM’s   ...read more

Bunbury Ram Raiders Strike Again

A Good Guys store in Bunbury, WA was ram raided last week. Nearby police officers attempted to confront the suspects, but the thieves ran away. Several Bunbury businesses were hit by ram raids last year, so it makes sense for stores like The Good Guys to be protected by bollards. Unfortunately, the bollards were uprooted by the impact and the roller door was caved in, causing massive damage to the storefront. While the bollards themselves are intact, the foundations were ripped out of the ground, with sand spilling out of the holes. This incident shows the importance o  ...read more

Ram-Raiders Strike Again!

The Village Food Market in Andergrove, Queensland, was ram-raided in the early hours of the morning on October 14th. A nearby resident heard a “loud bang” from the direction of the store at 4:30am before the store’s owner found CCTV footage of a vehicle ram-raiding into the glass side door of the shop. How much and of what was exactly stolen is still unknown, and police investigations are underway. The store owner is now checking his stock to establish how much was taken and to assess the damage to his glass sliding door, shelving and a large amount of stock.   ...read more

Blackburn Returns

For the third time since May this year, North Blackburn Shopping Centre has been ram-raided. The two masked thieves took only eight minutes to cause thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. The thieves gained access to North Blackburn shopping centre by ramming a stolen ute through an unguarded entrance at 2:20am Thursday morning, using the vehicle to ram-raid four more stores. The owner of the salon has expressed concern over the security of the shopping centre, which has bollards installed at other entrances to the premises. The thieves fou  ...read more

Ram Raid Thieves Make Destructive Blunder

Another day and another ram raid; this time in the suburb of Keysborough. Early on Tuesday morning, a pair of masked burglars rammed a stolen truck into Kingsclere Shopping Centre. Their target was an ATM inside the centre, but things didn’t quite go as planned. After managing to get the truck wedged between the ATM and a newsagency, they had to call for backup. A third accomplice arrived in another stolen vehicle – a Holden Commodore – and attempted to ram the truck to free it. But it was a futile attempt, only managing to further damage the veh  ...read more

Protecting 7-Eleven

Early on Wednesday morning a gunman entered a Springvale 7-Eleven store with the intent to rob it. The incident ended with an employee being shot in the elbow and the robber fleeing. This has not been a solitary event. Earlier this month, a Richmond 7-Eleven hosted a robbery and last year we saw a terrifying incident where a woman attacked complete strangers with an axe. All of these events occurred during the early hours of the morning. Priding themselves on providing convenience around the clock, 7-Elevens’ 24-hour service policy is an important part of the chai  ...read more

Ram-Raid Spree on Shepparton Businesses

A man rammed his Ford Falcon into several Shepparton businesses on Sunday night on the Goulburn Valley Highway, Maude Street and Wyndham Street. Police say he started ram-raiding businesses around 6:30 PM where he damaged the offices of Nine News, Prime News and the Shepparton News. He also targeted Stockdale and Leggo and a Centrelink office where he damaged a glass panel and sliding doors at the entrance. He was then arrested at a BP service station in Kialla an hour after the first offence. According to reports, Stockdale and Leggo s  ...read more
