'Little Streets', Larger Space

As a plan to make Melbourne the premier bicycle city of Australia, Lord Mayor Sally Capp has released a 10-year draft transport strategy. The plan is to expand the six kilometres of protected bike lanes to more than 50 kilometres by the year 2030; creating more space for pedestrians and cyclists in the CBD. The council will remove some of the city’s off-street parking, clearing the equivalent of 30 MCGs or 20 Burke St Malls of space. Our esteemed ‘Little Streets’ of Melbourne’s CBD (Little Collins, Little Burke, Little Lonsdale, Little La   ...read more

Meeting the Standards of Security

Australian Bollards provides a range of products for HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation). The strongest ones can stop a truck, and in order to prove it, the bollard designs are crash-tested using a special vehicle towing rig. PAS 68 and IWA 14-1 are industry standards for testing how bollards hold up against vehicle impacts. The documents lay out the procedure for testing the bollards, including specifying vehicle mass and impact velocity. The strongest bollards are typically those with a lot of sub-surface mass, like the tip of an iceberg sticking out of the ocean. However,  ...read more

The Disability Discrimination Act has been in place since 1992, requiring that Australians with disabilities are given fair treatment.
