Putting Safety First for Collins Street

by: Australian Bollards on

Collins Street

The city is ever evolving, buildings change, develop and disappear all the time.  Businesses in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD are not excluded from this, they must be more ready to adapt as most of them are premium grade commercial buildings, surrounded by many bars, restaurants and shopping districts. Collins street 530 is one of these buildings that has plans to upgrade many of the security systems, ground floor and food courts in order to be safer.

Australian bollards are committed to providing its customers with solutions that are tailored to fit their needs, just like the recent installation of VBIED stainless steel bollards out the front of another A-grade commercial tower, 595 Collins street. These stainless steel VBIED bollards are a Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) solutions that are used to keep pedestrians and buildings safe from vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED). These are just one of the solutions available for installation around 530 Collins street.

Australian bollards also carry a range of solutions that cater to a softer approach to hard security, meaning that we offer reliable and strong bollards that blend into the surroundings, adding to the scenery whilst also protecting pedestrian traffic and office spaces. One of these solutions is pictured below, these bollards are shaped in the form of planters, they can also be installed around other VBIED bollards to conceal them from view.

Another solution that we offer are intercom bollards that can be installed at entrances and exits to help aid in security and access control. These intercom bollards are also DDA approved, meaning that any person or persons that live with a disability can use the intercom system without any problems.

We also offer a range of Centurion automated sliding bollards that can be used to protect delivery zones and back entrances from unwanted access. These surface and shallow-mounted Centurion sliding bollards are automated to block off vehicle traffic at one time and can open to admit vehicles at another. These Centurion sliding bollards are PAS 68 and IWA-14 rated and add another level of security, keeping buildings and pedestrians safe always.

Australian bollards are committed to keeping Australian cities safe and these solutions help us continue to do that. These solutions are also available to you, and for more information please visit or contact us at
