Hobart Airport off to a Flying Start
by: Australian Bollards on
Australian Bollards are happy to be providing the Tasmanian capital of Hobart with airport security solutions to ensure the safety of passengers and staff with our VBIED high-impact bollards.
Hobart airport is using an Australian company to provide an Australian solution to asset protection and public security, having recently completed the northern extension of its 120m runway, which is part of its $40 million overhaul including a new interchange, Tasman freeway overpass and a dual carriageway extension. Construction began this year to improve safety and travel times and is expected to be completed by 2020.
The infrastructure and staff at Hobart International Airport contribute $143 million annually into the Tasmanian economy which is projected to increase with rising tourism and commercial developments on the horizon, which brought over 2.4 million passengers travelling through Hobart airport in 2018.
The Tasmanian capital has also launched its SkyBus service to transport travellers from the city to the airport and will offer free Wi-Fi and luggage racks- a model similar to the SkyBus system from Southern Cross Station to Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne, which transports 4 million passengers annually.
